Open door week

28.10. - 02.11.2025

From October 28 to November 2, 2025, the Hofheim City Museum is offering an "Open House Week" for all Hofheim residents and anyone interested. Guided tours provide an insight into Roman times, the medieval history of the town and the circle of artists around the painter, collector and gallery owner Hanna Bekker vom Rath (1893 - 1983). You can get creative yourself in workshops. Did you know that you can volunteer in the museum and that the rooms are available for hire? There are also information events on these two topics.

The focus is on Hanna Bekker vom Rath, who lived in the "Blue House" on Kapellenberg from 1920 until her death in 1983. Many renowned artists came to Hofheim at her invitation and in response to her work. She herself traveled the world in the 1950s and 1960s to make artists, primarily expressionists, internationally known. As part of the "Open Door Week", a stele will be installed in each district of Hofheim to commemorate Hanna Bekker vom Rath as a famous Hofheim personality and to draw attention to the Hofheim City Museum.

The life and work of Hanna Bekker vom Rath will be presented in a cabinet exhibition. In addition to works by Hanna Bekker vom Rath, works by Marta Hoepffner, Alexej von Jawlensky, Ida Kerkovius, Else and Ludwig Meidner, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Emy Roeder, Ottilie W. Roederstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Günter Schulz-Ihlefeldt and Siegfried Shalom Sebba will also be on display. Around 50 paintings, drawings and sculptures will be on display, all of which are part of the Hofheim City Museum's art collection, including the new acquisition "Still Life with Fruit, Flowers and Blue Jug" by Else Meidner and the two paintings "Portrait of Father Remigius Schulte" by Ottilie W. Roederstein and "No. III" by Günter Schulz-Ihlefeldt, which were donated to the City Museum in 2022 and 2025.

Come by and get to know the museum! We look forward to seeing you!
